چکیده

Avian influenza (AI) is a contagious disease that infects chickens, turkeys, and migratory birds. The sources of infection, avian influenza viruses (AIVs), are highly species-specific and rarely cross species barriers. However, when avian and human viruses contaminate an intermediate host simultaneously, AIVs produced by genetic recombination between the different strains may infect humans. Recently, pure AIVs with high pathogenicity, namely H5N1 and H7N7, were found to have been transmitted directly into humans [1]. Because highly pathogenic AIVs can cause fatalities in humans and lead to substantial economic losses because of infection of commercial poultry, rapid screening techniques for AIVs are in high demand [2]. Several virological methods are commonly used for virus detection; these include virus isolation, reversetranscriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), Detection of Avian Influenza-DNA Hybridization Using Wavelength-scanning Surface Plasmon Resonance Biosensor

Surface-enhanced localized surface plasmon resonance biosensing of avian influenza DNA hybridization using subwavelength metallic nanoarrays.

We demonstrated enhanced localized surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensing based on subwavelength gold nanoarrays built on a thin gold film. Arrays of nanogratings (1D) and nanoholes (2D) with a period of 200 nm were fabricated by electron-beam lithography and used for the detection of avian influenza DNA hybridization. Experimental results showed that both nanoarrays provided significant se...

A Phase-Intensity Surface Plasmon Resonance Biosensor for Avian Influenza A (H5N1) Detection

In this paper, we present a phase-intensity surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor and demonstrate its use for avian influenza A (H5N1) antibody biomarker detection. The sensor probes the intensity variation produced by the steep phase response at surface plasmon excitation. The prism sensor head is fixed between a pair of polarizers with a perpendicular orientation angle and a forbidden tra...

A SPR Aptasensor for Detection of Avian Influenza Virus H5N1

Rapid and specific detection of avian influenza virus (AIV) is urgently needed due to the concerns over the potential outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 influenza in animals and humans. Aptamers are artificial oligonucleic acids that can bind specific target molecules, and show comparable affinity for target viruses and better thermal stability than monoclonal antibodies. The objective of this...

Enhanced surface plasmon resonance imaging detection of DNA hybridization on periodic gold nanoposts.

We explore periodic gold nanoposts as substrates for the enhanced surface plasmon resonance imaging (SPRi) detection of DNA hybridization. Rigorous coupled-wave analysis was used to model and design the nanopost-based SPRi biosensor. Arrayed gold nanoposts on gold-coated glass substrate, with various widths and periodicity, were fabricated using electron-beam lithography and characterized with ...

Metal Nanoparticles/Porous Silicon Microcavity Enhanced Surface Plasmon Resonance Fluorescence for the Detection of DNA

A porous silicon microcavity (PSiMC) with resonant peak wavelength of 635 nm was fabricated by electrochemical etching. Metal nanoparticles (NPs)/PSiMC enhanced fluorescence substrates were prepared by the electrostatic adherence of Au NPs that were distributed in PSiMC. The Au NPs/PSiMC device was used to characterize the target DNA immobilization and hybridization with its complementary DNA s...
